About the Brow Lift

A brow lift procedure is a treatment designed to reposition and lift the eyebrows while also addressing signs of aging. Two types of brow lifts are performed at Roham Advance Laser & Cosmetic Surgery: the endoscopic and the open approach brow lift. Each method targets different concerns to help patients reposition their eyebrows, revitalizing and rejuvenating their skin in the process.

Preparation

Before each appointment, Dr. Roham will instruct the patient on how to properly prepare for the procedure. Patients may be asked to temporarily stop taking certain medications or supplements such as ibuprofen, Advil, and fish oil. If applicable, please quit smoking a few weeks prior to the procedure and refrain from tobacco or nicotine until fully healed or approved by Dr. Roham. Patients should pre-arrange transportation home from their procedure and stock up on any potential recovery items needed to maximize comfort, including ice packs and medications.

Procedure

Multiple methods can be used to help achieve a more youthful appearance. The chosen method depends on your skin’s condition and your personalized treatment plan to help you reach your aesthetic goals. The two types of procedures we perform are endoscopic brow lifts and open-approach brow lifts. ⁽¹⁾

Endoscopic Brow Lift

Endoscopic brow lifts are ideal for patients who are only experiencing mild to moderate symptoms and have a smaller amount of excess skin. The endoscopic brow lift is currently the most popular method of brow lift procedure. ⁽²⁾ This method starts with the administration of anesthetic to ensure that you feel comfortable during your procedure. General anesthesia is typically used during a browlift. This procedure requires a more minimal incision. A small endoscope, or camera, is then used to guide Dr. Roham as he lifts and repositions the facial tissue. During this procedure, the muscles that lead to fine lines and wrinkles are also adjusted to restore a more youthful look.

Open Approach Brow Lift

Open-approach brow lifts are traditionally performed to help address more severe symptoms. Both methods strategically hide visible scarring and offer significant results for patients. Dr. Roham may use an open approach to lift the brow and excise skin directly, all with incisions carefully placed to be hidden at or behind the hairline. Some of the muscles causing the furrows of the brow are disrupted or removed to provide a longer-lasting result. Each method is tailored to give the appropriate elevation at the area of the brow where you need it most. This method can also be called a coronal brow lift or traditional brow lift. ⁽²⁾

Recovery

Following the treatment, patients may experience slight swelling and bruising around the treatment area. These effects will subside within the week and any tenderness or discomfort can be managed through the use of pain medications. After 1-2 weeks, patients will start being able to return to their daily routine. The full effects of the procedure can be seen after 3 months of healing. Scarring may take several months to fade but will be hidden within the hairline.

Results

The full effects of the eyebrow lift can be seen around 3 months after the initial treatment. Patients will be able to fully enjoy the results of their treatment for 5-10 years, making this a long-lasting treatment with natural-looking results. Patients will be able to experience tighter skin and a refreshed appearance.

An eyebrow lift is a procedure that can commonly be performed alongside other procedures to create a combined, enhanced effect. One of the most common procedures to combine with a brow lift is an upper-eyelid lift, also known as a blepharoplasty. A blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes excess tissue from the eyelids to create a smoother and more youthful appearance.
