What Is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
As the body ages, the production of collagen naturally begins to slow. Because collagen is the key to youthful, radiant skin, a decrease in collagen production can leave you with an aged, tired, or dull appearance. Laser skin resurfacing can restore a refreshed appearance by removing the outer layers of the skin, stimulating collagen in the process.
How Does AcuPulse Work?
AcuPulse works by directing short laser pulses to specific areas of the skin. The collagen fibers that are generated during and after treatment help the skin achieve a smoother, firmer appearance. In addition, the AcuPulse treatment can be customized to your needs. Patients can even opt for deep treatments to address deeper lines and wrinkles, as well as textured skin.
What Skin Concerns Can AcuPulse Address?
Photoaging: Photoaging happens when the sun ages your skin prematurely. Also referred to as sun damage, photoaging can lead to several bothersome skin issues, such as large-scale hyperpigmentation. Although protecting your skin while outdoors can help prevent new damage from occurring, it does not erase years of sun damage.
Lines and wrinkles: Lines and wrinkles are some of the most obvious signs of aging. The new collagen that is formed after treatment can help plump up the skin and smooth out wrinkles.
Enlarged pores: Enlarged pores give the skin an uneven, sometimes bumpy texture. When looking closely, it may even appear that you have tiny dents in your skin. While some imperfections can be covered up with makeup, there is very little that can be done to eliminate the appearance of skin texture outside of skin resurfacing.
Acne scars: Acne scars often serve as a lasting reminder of a negative experience with persistent acne. AcuPulse treatment allows patients to experience a fresh start with renewed skin.
Procedure Details
During your AcuPulse treatment, Dr. Roham will first ensure that you are comfortable during the procedure by applying a numbing agent to the skin, after which eye shields will be put in place. Next, the laser will be used in short pulses to clear pigmentation, texture, and other blemishes. Patients may feel a warming sensation during this time. The treatment can take as few as 15 minutes, but larger areas require longer treatment time. Full results will be evident after about six months, lasting for up to one year.
