About Liquid Facelift
A liquid facelift is a non-surgical way to lift, contour, and rejuvenate your facial appearance. (1) It uses dermal fillers, neuromodulators, and collagen-boosting injections to restore lost volume, soften frown lines and wrinkles, tighten the neck, minimize crow’s feet, erase worry lines, and lift sagging tissues. This treatment aims to resolve:
- Droopy eyebrows
- Hollow temples
- Loss of volume in cheeks
- Undefined jawline
- Laugh lines
- Chin wrinkles
- Undefined nose or tip
- Hollow temples or undereyes
- Lipstick lines
- Thin lips
Which Injections Can a Liquid Facelift Include?
A liquid facelift is made up of many different injections, potentially including:
- Daxxify: Temporarily relaxes muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by blocking nerve signals to the muscles that create expression lines. Daxxify is also FDA-approved for glabellar lines, horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet, and other expression-related wrinkles. Results can last up to six months or more, and patients do not require as many touch-ups as other neuromodulators.
- Dysport: Designed to reduce visibility of frown lines by relaxing targeted facial muscles. It is known for its quick onset and natural-looking diminishing of frown lines, creases, and facial wrinkles. The results from Dysport can last between three to four months or longer.
- Letybo: Treats moderate to severe glabellar lines (the ‘11’ lines between the brows) by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles, resulting in fewer wrinkle formations and preventing new ones from forming. The results from Letybo can last several months, and regular touch-up treatments can serve as a form of preventative care.
- Juvederm: Helps reduce wrinkles and folds around the mouth to create a younger facial appearance. There are three different types of Juvederm available: Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, which augments and plumps the lips that have thinned over time, Juvederm XC, which smooths away wrinkles around the mouth and nose, and Juvederm Volbella, which also minimizes the appearance of fine lines around the mouth. The results from Juvederm last about one year.
- Jeuveau: Aims to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines in the forehead and crow’s feet, as well as moderate-to-severe glabellar lines. Jeuveau works by blocking the nerve signals that trigger muscle movement in the treated areas to deliver a more refreshed overall appearance.
- Restylane: Contains hyaluronic acid to add volume underneath the skin and correct nasolabial folds and can also augment the lips. Restylane aims to effectively restore volume that is lost during the natural aging process that leaves behind wrinkles and folds.
- Voluma: Adds volume to your cheek area to correct age-related volume loss in adults over the age of 21. It aims to produce instant visible improvements to the cheeks by gently lifting them and giving your facial contours an overall rounder and fuller appearance. The results from Voluma can last up to two years.
- Sculptra: Improves your skin over time to result in a younger-looking appearance by adding hydration and volume. Sculptra stimulates the body’s natural collagen production to provide the structure needed to fill in wrinkles and folds to restore volume loss.
- Botox: Smooths visible signs of aging, including wrinkles, fine lines, crow’s feet, and facial creases. Botox also reduces the appearance of wrinkles by reducing muscle contractions and relaxing facial muscles. The effects can last three to four months, resulting in a long-term youthful-looking appearance.
- Xeomin: Relaxes facial muscles on the forehead by reducing and smoothing away frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet and can also treat a gummy smile. Xeomin works fast, delivering results in three days that can last up to three months.
Candidates
If you have naturally developed an aged appearance or struggle with skin texture irregularities and mild-to-moderate skin laxity and want a subtle-yet-transformative refresh without undergoing surgery, you may benefit greatly from a liquid facelift. You must also have good skin elasticity and natural firmness to support the injected dermal fillers and neuromodulators. (2) Ideal candidates are in good general health and hold realistic expectations for their results.

Preparation
Effectively preparing for your liquid facelift treatment ensures a smooth procedure and recovery. Dr. Roham advises you to:
- Stop taking blood-thinning medications and supplements
- Avoid alcohol consumption
- Ensure that your skin is free of any active acne, infections, or sunburns
- Arrive with clean skin to your appointment
Procedure
At the beginning of your appointment, one of our injector specialists will evaluate your facial anatomy, skin elasticity, and volume loss and select the adequate injections for your skin. Next, they will map out the injection sites in areas like the cheeks, temples, and jawline and sterilize your skin. To minimize discomfort during your treatment, they may administer a local or topical anesthetic, but this is not always necessary; many of these injectable formulas contain lidocaine to enhance comfort. Using a strategic technique, they will inject dermal fillers deep near the bone or into the superficial fat pads to restore structure; neuromodulators to relax the muscles causing dynamic wrinkles; and collagen boosters to improve facial texture and restore elasticity. Once they address each area of your face, they will gently massage or mold the filler under the skin to ensure a smooth and even contour, free of any uneven lumps. (3) Lastly, they may apply a cold compress to reduce any swelling.
Recovery
Immediately after your injections, you can resume your normal activities, although swelling, redness, tenderness, or minor bruising can be normal side effects. After three to seven days, lingering puffiness or bruising should subside, and your results will begin to settle with a natural and refreshed look. As you heal, you must avoid touching your injection sites, consuming alcohol, taking blood-thinning medications, and smoking to ensure the best results. To reduce swelling, Dr. Roham advises you to sleep with your head elevated and limit exercise and intense heat exposure for at least 48 hours. After a week, your final, defined contours, new lift, and restored volume will appear as a natural-looking facial refresh.
Results
The results of your liquid facelift treatment will bring natural-looking lifting effects, plumped and smooth texture free of fine lines and wrinkles, and a symmetrical and cohesive appearance to your face. Additionally, it may soften nasolabial folds, define the jawline, and rejuvenate the face. Hyaluronic acid fillers typically last between 6 and 18 months, collagen boosters can last up to two years as your body rebuilds collagen over time, and neuromodulators last about three to four months, requiring periodic maintenance for upkeep.
