Juvederm Volbella is the latest FDA-approved injectable added to the Juvéderm family of dermal fillers. This non-surgical lip augmentation treatment is designed to plump the lips and minimize the appearance of fine lines around the mouth, also known as perioral lines.

With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year.  Juvederm is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment.

What is Juvederm Ultra Plus XC?

A new FDA-approved filler Juvederm Ultra Plus XC effectively volumizes the lips for a plumper appearance. It is also approved for the treatment of smoker’s lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Dr. Roham performs Juvederm Ultra injections at his cosmetic and plastic surgery practice in Santa Ana and San Clemente, CA.

What is Juvederm Volbella?

Volbella is a dermal filler used to define lips and for the correction of fine wrinkles around the lips. This temporary filler is made of Hyaluronic Acid; its smaller particle size allows Dr. Roham to treat fine lines without getting a full look in these delicate areas.

Volbella is the perfect product to choose for small fine lines and subtle enhancement of the lips. The smaller particle size allows for the correction of these fine areas without the worry that your lips will get bulky or too puffy. The results last up to one year.

What is Juvederm XC?

Juvederm is an extensive family of dermal fillers made with hyaluronic acid. This substance can be found naturally in the body where it’s responsible for important functions in the skin, like moisture retention. When injected as a gel substance under the skin, it can create volume. Juvederm XC is a specific formulation of this injection technique that can effectively fill in wrinkles and folds around the mouth, sometimes called parentheses lines or smile lines. Juvederm XC usually lasts for up to one year.

Injectable Treatment Procedure

Dr. Roham’s first step is always ensuring his patients are comfortable and relaxed during treatment. That’s why Juvederm treatment begins with a topical anesthetic to numb the treatment area before injection. Juvederm XC also contains lidocaine for further comfort during and after the injection process. Dr. Roham then uses a very small needle to make a series of injections in a specific pattern at the wrinkles around the mouth. You might need one or more syringes to achieve your desired results. Injectable treatments are usually quick and you can immediately return to your normal schedule.

Recovery After Juvederm Treatment

There’s no downtime associated with injectable treatments, and you’ll see results immediately after your treatment session. Like any injection, you can expect some mild bruising and swelling at the treatment site, but this usually subsides within the day. Dr. Roham normally recommends massaging the injection area after treatment to make sure the product stays smooth and distributes correctly.

Is Juvéderm better than Botox?

No, they each use specialized methods. Botox freezes the muscles in the face to prevent and treat wrinkles caused by repeated movements. Juvéderm improves your facial contouring and softens wrinkles without affecting muscle movement.

Are there any side-effects?

Yes. You might get soreness, redness, and rashes. These symptoms resolve within a few days.
