What is Botox?
Botox has become an extraordinarily popular minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment, likely due to a high level of patient satisfaction and safety. It is injected into certain facial muscles to prevent them from contracting, reducing the wrinkles that they cause. Dr. Roham is an experienced injector and takes great care to avoid giving his patients the frozen look that is sometimes seen.
What is Dysport?
After years of showing facial expressions like smiling and frowning, you may begin to develop lines and wrinkles in the upper face. With Dysport, you express yourself without the lines. Dysport is a neuromodulator injectable, targeting the facial muscles to temporarily reduce wrinkles-causing contractions to produce smoother skin. This results in a younger appearance that still looks natural.
What is Xeomin?
Xeomin is a new injection similar to Botox and Dysport that relaxes facial muscles on the forehead, thereby reducing and smoothing away frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet wrinkles. Xeomin, like Botox Cosmetic is a protein extracted from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.
Xeomin works faster than Botox, so if you need to look your best on a weekend, select any weekday and stop by our office to get an injection. Usually you need 3 days to see the results, sometimes you can see the results even in 48 hours! The results last up to 3 months.
The Treatment Process
To begin treatment, you might have a topical anesthetic applied to numb the treatment area and ensure your comfort. The treatment area will be mapped out to determine precise injection points. The formula will then be injected beneath the skin. The number of injections you need will depend on the extent of your wrinkles, however, the treatment process is usually complete in about 10 to 20 minutes.
Recovery and Results
There is no required downtime after your treatment with Neuromodulators, however, you might experience some slight swelling, bruising, and itching at the injection sites for a day after your treatment. During this time, you should avoid strenuous exercise and be careful not to rub the injection site. You can begin to enjoy the results of your treatment within just a few days. You’ll notice diminished wrinkles and fine lines for a younger, more refreshed appearance. The results vary depending on the Neuromodulator used. After this time, you can choose to have a touch-up session to maintain your smooth skin.
